PSN's Dean Hunter named 'outstanding' HR director

Dean Hunter, PSN’s HR Director, has been named Outstanding HR Director in the inaugural Cherries Awards. Lisa Kinnear, also from PSN, picked up the Fantastic HR Adviser award.

The Cherries Awards, established by the Urquhart Partnership, were created to recognise excellence in human resources management in North and North-East Scotland.

Hunter said: "I was delighted to be recognised in this way. The award of course reflects the massive team effort that we have made in creating an innovative, effective and forward looking HR structure to support our network of 22,000 professionals throughout the world. This was done against a massive shift in corporate culture and significant international growth over the past 18 months, as PSN has emerged from a management buy-out."

PSN runs a highly successful career conversion programme for ex-members of the armed forces, offers an excellent graduate scheme and recruits locally wherever it is operating. The company has also created a unique alliance with Aberdeen Skills and Enterprise Training (ASET), offering bespoke technical training that is delivered to internationally recognised, industry endorsed quality standards. These and other initiatives contributed to the company being named in the Times Top 100 companies to work for in the UK.

Hunter continues: "PSN operates its business through seven core values, at the heart of which is health, safety and a commitment to our people. We offer innovative and flexible working systems and flexible benefits that play a large part in maintaining morale and ensuring that employee turnover remains at less than 1% per annum. We also invest in training and employee development work wherever we operate and across the 200 professional disciplines required across our business, including project management, IT, accountancy, engineering, construction, commissioning, operations, and maintenance.

"Essentially, we are looking for people that can make a contribution to PSN's culture, as we can offer the necessary training, support and development. If you're ambitious, hard-working and a fast learner you'll succeed at PSN."
